How Hubble supports construction and sustainability with pre-fabrication construction.

We’ve all built our first lego house, balanced a playing card-house, or even shaped our ‘Play-Doh’ into something special back in the days. In fact, we’re all familiar with the process of creating something with multiple parts, and construction is no different.

By putting together a mass of materials together, like walls, doors, windows, etc, we are able to construct houses, offices, malls, all with considerable ease just like a lego project, and this is all made possible through a process called prefabricated construction.

What is prefabricated construction?

Back in 2018, 600 million tons of waste was generated overseas due to construction and demolition, while 143 million tons of it resides in landfills: which mainly consisted of steel reinforcements, premixed concrete, pipes, and wires. Due to the nature of these materials, most of them had to be incinerated in waste-to-energy facilities which contribute to increased dioxide emissions.

Prefabricated construction is the practice of building many parts together at a fabrication site before delivering them over to the construction site that requires them. This method allows construction sites to save cost, space, and time, as compared to fabricating the parts on-site instead, which was the main problem that contributed to much waste.

The delivery process also plays a crucial role in making (or breaking) a construction project. Getting delivered too early means that there may not be enough space to store them, and getting delivered too late would mean that the entire project would delay.

Manually keeping track of both fabrication and delivery takes a toll on the coordinator, especially in a huge project with many moving parts. But with digitisation, you will be able to automate and have increased visibility over the entire process with ease.

What are the advantages of digitising the fabrication process?

As we keep in line with Singapore’s ‘Green Plan’ initiative, we are looking to reduce the amount of waste generated by construction sites sent to the landfills greatly through the support of the prefabricating process.

Through understanding that digitisation and sustainability are 2 sides of the same coin, we were able to develop a solution that helps to not only drive innovation within our technology to ultimately promote a sustainable culture but also to enhance the way that the industry works at the fabrication stage of the construction lifecycle.

1 – Full support over an eco-friendly method

Through a paperless, digital solution, we are able to help you keep track of every material that is being fabricated over at the site so that you’ll never lose sight of what’s being made and of how long it takes.

Additionally, as construction is being made over at a factory, excess materials will be recycled into other uses such as for other pre-assembled materials – thus optimising the usage and helping you save cost on extra, unnecessary materials.

2 – Save time and money by being able to plan everything on a single platform

With Hubble, we provide a way for everyone to be on the same page with regards to planning and managing production schedules. You’ll be able to get a real-time progression of all Prefabricated Prefinished Volumetric Construction (PPVC) modules and plan accordingly in order to save time and money.

Identify delays and bottlenecks early and be better prepared in the long run in order to achieve maximum efficiency in your delivery scheduling.

3 – Track the process in real-time and achieve deliveries that are just-in-time

We are able to assist you with a way to update the delivery schedule at all times, and this helps you to track the entire fabrication delivery process from start to finish. Never have your materials arriving too early or too late again, and optimise the process by achieving deliveries that come just-in-time for the best results for your projects.

In many cases, prefabrication can help to cut more than half the time as compared to doing it the traditional way, and with Hubble, you can further cut that in half again as we help to solve many of the manual needs in keeping track of the process – thus promoting a strong culture of sustainability and increasing your profit gains and efficiency in turn.
